Edge Of Wonder
A sculptural composition formed from handmade papers of flax, abaca, and cotton, shaped and layered to create contemporary dimensional depth. The emerging young bird embodies a first encounter with the natural world, capturing a sense of innocence and quiet wonder.
Mixed Media
Pursuing this path was a fun and adventurous road for me. I was able to combine two areas of art that are dear to me. I found that adding materials found in nature to paint can also be as freeing as working with pulp. Applying the pulp itself to a canvas allowed me to mix the two-dimensional with the three-dimensional. The greatest compliment I receive is when people want to touch my work to see if it really is 3D or 2D. I work with natural dyes and acrylics to try to achieve a more realistic approach. Some of my projects include textile materials as well. My hope is that the combination of materials will result in their own distinctive interpretation.
